What is Iontophoresis?

Iontophoresis is a topical technique used to prevent sweating. It involves using a machine to pass a very small electric current into the skin of the hands and feet, which reduces sweat production or stops the sweat glands from producing sweat temporarily.Axillae can be treated by using axillae electrodes.

It is a very safe technique and the iontophoresis machine utilises tap water to carry out the treatment.

How long does Iontophoresis take and how many treatments will I require?

On average the treatments takes approximately 20 minutes. Initially 6 treatments will be required in the first 3 weeks, and then every 6 weeks to 6 months depending on the individual. This treatment has temporary effects, therefore ongoing treatments are required.
