Medical Grade Dermaroller

Dermaroller is a very popular treatment due to the outstanding results it delivers.

This procedure has minimal down-time compared to other procedures and has a high client satisfaction rate.  Dermaroller is a procedure used to treat the following:

  • Fine line and wrinkles, excellent results obtained for wrinkles under the eyes.
  • Acne scars appearance is markedly reduced
  • Softening of stretch marks, surgical scars and chicken pox scars.

How does dermaroller work?

The dermaroller procedure involves advanced micro-needling of the skin. Topical anaesthetic applied prior to treatment, although a local anaesthetic injection can also be administered if requested. The medical needling instrument used is a sterile roller, which is rolled across the skin causing a numerous micro-punctures to the lower layers of the skin. This function stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen, an important constituent of the skin which promotes elasticity and responsible for tensile strength. Clinical studies show that there can be a 400% increase in the deposition of collagen. The eventual process results in tight skin, less lines and wrinkles with a softening and reduction in scarring. This procedure also thickens the skin.

How often do I need dermaroller treatments?

It is advised that the procedure is repeated every 8 to 12 weeks.  Optimal results are achieved after 4-6 sessions.  Clinical experience shows that the results are not temporary and can last several years.

Although this treatment is recommended for acne scarring, it is not suitable for those that have active acne.  It is also not recommended for people who have eczema, psoriasis or raised moles and warts.
